DECEMBER DAILY (still imagining) # 13
so many journals….
…so little time, especially this time of year! Believe it or not, this is a helpful holiday topic, journals, journals, journals! I LOVE MY JOURNALS, all of them! This pile represents the many directions my creative curiosities take me. I draw, doodle, write, paint, mist, layer, color, and more. It’s a mood thing. Sometimes you’re in the mood to do one artsy thing, or another artsy thing. Don’t be afraid to explore, “be all over the place” with your experiments and techniques. It will help you find your creative passion, some things will feel more natural and gratifying, and others will leave you frustrated.
DECEMBER DAILY (pretending) #12
tree progress
At least we HAVE the live tree and it’s in the house! It smells wonderful. There is nothing creative or artistic about this Christmas tree, but it will be transformed when (in mother tone voice) some of my young adult children decide to make an appearance with some holiday spirit to help.
But while we are waiting for the artsy tree pics let’s play “Find the Kitty”!! Can you spot the bengal cat in all these photos? They are the nosiest cats on the planet, and all three of them had to investigate the foreign object we brought into the house.
december daily catch up!!!
Well, so much for that! How quickly FIVE days went without me blog posting, so i owe you FIVE posts so that my counter will show that i had 31 posts in December, LOL!!
Like everyone else the “busy” is really kicking in! Over the weekend, i had my “Santa’s Secret Workshop” kids art classes at my studio . How precious these little darlings were, busy as little elves making all kinds of SECRET treasures for their families. I took some Ranger/Tim Holtz ideas and adapted them for the kids. Here are photos of the beautiful alcohol ink ornaments and a tattered fabric pin using Tim’s “Tattered Florals” die from Sizzix .

a snowy day
The view out our backyard, our property backs up to a forever wild nature preserve. As snowy, and as cold as it gets, it’s always so gorgeous. Unless it’s April and there’s still snow, and that has happened!
DECEMBER DAILY #8
holiday stamping fun
My new stamps launching in January have will have a completely different “funky, artsy” feel, a different kind of whimsey, so stay tuned!
launching new stamps…
Throughout the year my stamps will be showcased on a new blog called “Coloring Arts” which will feature techniques, free art, tutorials and online workshops. It’s the “One Stop Coloring Spot” for creative expression with Copic markers, inks, paints, mists, and much more. Stay tuned!
December Daily #6
…"don’t rain on my paraaaade"!!!
Yes, the Barbra Streisand tune from the movie “Funny Girl”. Sorry to do that to you, but the song will be belting out and bouncing in your head all day!
“Hello Gorgeous”!!!!…Barbra’s iconic line in movie history. By now you’ve figured out that these journal pages were created while i was watching my classic movies, this one “Funny Girl”. Adored every minute of this timeless story with Babs and the, oh so handsome, Omar Sharif.
When i am watching and painting and writing, the words seep onto the pages as i hear them in the background. It’s a fun way to journal without consciously thinking about proper grammar or earth shattering messages, just write the words as you hear them. Deliberately plan to write while you listen to music, favorite songs and artists, TV shows, movies, and see what comes out onto the page.
The vivid background pages are layers of Ranger Color Wash (sailboat blue, wild plum, purple twilight, butterscotch and cranberry) with die cut flower shapes as stencils. Spritzed the colors with water, blotted, and used my heat tool to dry in between layers. Doodle and lettered with white paint pen when all dry after the “intermission”…(the movie paused and “INTERMISSION” read across the screen. Remember when movies had real intermissions? So nostalgic.)

…a cool blue December day

| “Live with promise. Love with passion. Laugh with gusto. Have faith.” |
..Baby it’s cold outside, and fresh snow sprinking all day. Today’s “Whimspiration” is in cool blue tones in watercolor with black text. The writing on this was done with a black Sakura Glaze pen, nice and shiny. (not showing up very well on camera or computer.)
Crazy for the sparkly and shiny, when my Ranger Pearls Mists arrived, i just HAD to try the turquoise over the entire page! Really GOOD stuff, a very richly pigmented reflective shine. Just the way i like it.
