…washi tape fashion show…

I’m on a hop!  Do you LOVE, LoVe, love washi tape like i do?  It is some type of side effect of the “art supply hoarding syndrome” i have.  I don’t know WHAT it is about washi tape, but i just can’t get enough.  Yes, crazy, i know.  For me, it’s the perfect accessory for my art work.  My sweet art friend Aimee Dolich over at Artsyville has just launched her fabulous art on a SIX ROLL collection of washi tape!!  I aodre her and her whimsical style, we are perfectly matched “art soul sisters”.

This is my Artsyville tape fashion show!  My favorite use of washi tape is to attach and frame my lettering pieces into my art journals.  These are samples of hand lettering with a white Signo gel pen on scrap paper lunch bag. I cut it into smaller shapes and wrote some fun phrases referencing:

  “My Washi Tape Philosophy”.

  1. Joanne, I love your new blog header. Not to mention your great sense of humour…these little sayings are fabulous! I love this washi tape! I can no longer purchase wrapping paper, thanks…I think… So, my favourite use for washi tape is to add a little bling to my homemade wrapping paper.

  2. Yes, love tape too, A LOT! 🙂 My favorite use is to tape i strip into my writing diary, to get some colour on a otherwise B/W page. And like you did here, tape down quotes or images. Yummy. I also use it in my collage artwork, because it is transparent.

  3. G'Mornin' … I love to use it in my journals… but my 'outside the Tape Box' Fav way to use it is to hang fun/lovely art that I and others have created on my home office door. I make printed copies of the art so it isn't heavy at all and tape it up!!! So even when the door is closed when someone is walking down the hallway they get an eye-full of Taped UP Creativity 🙂 It's a great conversation piece.

  4. Good Morning Joanne. I first used Washi tape in my pages from Letter Love 101 and have never looked back. I love using it in my journal pages as an accent. I also add it to tags and cards.

  5. I use washi tape on my art journals, to put a bit of an accent on a tag, card or anything that I am working on. I love the fact it is so easy to place and remove. Once I have decided the permanent placement I put a thin layer of gel medium to seal it and it works perfectly! ♥

  6. I LOVE washi tape! I use it for journaling, mixed media and lately I've been using it to make faux pages for the sides of book boxes I've been making.

  7. I love to use tape for tip ins. I'll make an ATC for a journal page and then use tape to tip it in. My favorite thing about tape though is that it comes in a bazillion colors and patterns and widths!! Great post, Joanne. Love the idea of using tape to frame handwritten quotes.

  8. Love love love this tape, and the little quotes you made ! It's a perfect fit with your lettering. I have been using my washi tape in my journal, to tape the backs of envelopes closed, and to wrap presents. And my daughter used it to make a colourful rocket for a school project …

  9. Love your combination of lettering framed by those delicious washi tapes!! I use what few I own for a touch of something here and there on a card or in a journal page. I also have used pieces to tape things down sometimes. Thanks for the chance to win these happy tapes!

  10. I use Washi tape for cards. That way I can doodle away and then just attach it to a card. I love to use it on the outside of my journals to make each one extra special too! And to think, 3 years ago I didn't even know what an "art journal" was! Now, thanks to you and your wonderful classes, I have lots of fun journals and have ventured into the art world! 🙂

  11. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this tape! My favorite use? It's hard to narrow it down, but I think it adds a great finishing touch on my art journal pages. Thanks for the chance to win a set!

  12. I love tape also! (surprise, surprise, huh?) I use it to decorate cards, in journals, and to decorate envelopes and to attach address info on packages I send out. The clerks at my p.o. love seeing what I bring in to mail! Thanks for all of the inspiration you share and this chance to win some of these awesome new tapes from Artsyville! ❤

  13. My favorite way to use washi tape is for sealing envelopes before sticking them in the mail. I have also used it on gifts to secure the card. It's fun to let artsy-ness spread beyond my art journal and make the world more happy!

  14. same here (as Rachel said) …. I am not entering in my own giveaway 😉 but just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has entered so far, and THANK YOU Joanne for your super fun use of the tape! xoxo

  15. Not my *fave* way, but probably my most interesting = I used some to tape a cat-chewed section of my cellphone charger cord 😀 Gorgeous blog & artworks, by the way – happy to have found you via Awesome Artsyville Washi Tape!~ gem

  16. I make heart stickers out of washi tape and put them on my daughter's paper lunch bags! Thank you so much for the great giveaway – these washi tapes are just amazing!!!

  17. Huh, you use them? I thought you just collected them in cute baskets or jars.Seriously, tape is such a neat embellishment and doesn't add weight or bulk- i use it everywhere everyone else has mentioned. "It's a good thing."I especially thank you, Joanne, for leading me to Artsyville and all the wonderful inner child art.

  18. i use it to attach little drawings and artwork i send to my girls in college. it adds a nice touch to the love notes! love your pages joanne!!! so colorful, this tape is great!
