…washi tape fashion show…

I’m on a hop!  Do you LOVE, LoVe, love washi tape like i do?  It is some type of side effect of the “art supply hoarding syndrome” i have.  I don’t know WHAT it is about washi tape, but i just can’t get enough.  Yes, crazy, i know.  For me, it’s the perfect accessory for my art work.  My sweet art friend Aimee Dolich over at Artsyville has just launched her fabulous art on a SIX ROLL collection of washi tape!!  I aodre her and her whimsical style, we are perfectly matched “art soul sisters”.

This is my Artsyville tape fashion show!  My favorite use of washi tape is to attach and frame my lettering pieces into my art journals.  These are samples of hand lettering with a white Signo gel pen on scrap paper lunch bag. I cut it into smaller shapes and wrote some fun phrases referencing:

  “My Washi Tape Philosophy”.

  1. It should be used everywhere!! Adding pages to journals, decorating containers in studio, just adding a little something to a journal page, but my fav is decorating packages to be mailed. I always hope that it makes someone smile along the way, as well as the recipient!!

  2. I love using washi tape in my art journals and cards…and the 4×4 chunky book pages I make for trades. I also like the idea of covering paper pieces in tape and then die cutting them. Love your tape philosophy 🙂

  3. I like to edge pages in my junk journals that look unfinished e.g. pages made from corrugated card. They look so good with washi tape covering the rough edgrs.

  4. LOVE, LOVE the washi tapes & the way you showcased them! Awesome! I use washi tape to "enhance" my greeting cards, tape up envelopes going through the mail & tape around my hand-painted post cards. (Umm – let's see also utilize washi tape for wrapping presents & making gift bags!) FUN. Thanks for the chance,Grandma Nancy Sapp

  5. My favorite thing to do with my washi tape (and Aimee's especially!) is to tape love notes to my family – all over the house. High and low, in regular places(the referig front) and unexpected places(the last package of toilet paper!) I THINK the reason I love washi is because it is so easy, and colorful, and just stinkin' GREAT stuff!

  6. I LOVE to use Washi tape at the top of a folder tab. I have a template to create 15 different tab shapes; trace & cut them from card stock, fold, attach across top with WASHI tape to cards, then zentangle or calligraph on outside & inside of tab. Lots of fun & so quick & easy!!!

  7. I actually use it most often to tape dies to paper before running through my Big Shot, but you just gave me a fun idea for framing a hand-lettered quote on a card front!

  8. I am a washi tape addict too! I use my washsi tape, like you, as frames a lot, whether framing the entire page or just smaller elements in my mix media art. Aimee's tape is so fun. I cannot wait to get some for my stash, especially if I might win it. Thanks!

  9. Hi Joanne! I mostly use washi tape in my mix media art journals, I love reenforcing pages with it, lining the edges of my pages or putting them on the signature seams to prevent paint from seeping through to the other pages. Thanks for the chance to win some!

  10. I've used washi tapes in my art journal entries, for simple embellishments, to create borders around days, to frame words or drawings, to adhere/add interest to tip-ins, etc … the creative possibilities seem endless ~ especially after reading all the great comments here ~ such inspiration!

  11. ACK! How can I post my favorite use when I've never even seen them in person??? Now these I love! You are enabling our addictions again! 🙂 ♥

  12. besides using it in my PL, on atcs, in my art journal…it is great for holding a stencil in place while you spray. paint or ink it. Washi comes right up and leaves no mark!

  13. Thanks for sharing you lovely lettering. In answer to your question, I like to use washi tape for my mail art and in my journals. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I'd love to win!

  14. Hi Joanne! Thanks for the giveaway–I'd be thrilled to own a set of Aimee's gorgeous tapes. They look awesome as frames for your lettering! I like to use tapes in my art journals. My little daughters like to swap them from my art table, too, to use them in their own projects. I might have to keep these under lock and key if I win! 🙂

  15. Washi tape rules!I love to use thetape for lots of things.I use it to edge boxesI have covered withpattern paper, do theedges of pages in books, just use on cards to make a background!Carla from Utah
